The Importance of Values

Let’s start with discovering the definition of the word “value.” The word “value” has several different connotations. It could speak to monetary worth and the usefulness of something to somebody. Or it may be a numerical quality assigned to a mathematical symbol or the length of a musical note. A value can be the accepted principles and/or standards that we live our life by or, that we regard somebody or something as important or useful. We may think of our "beliefs," "paradigms" and "programs" as our values, but are they?

How do we define our values? Are we our values? What if you could say "I am integrity. I define the word with my being. I am honor. If you need to know what the word honor means, look at my life." Values are not the same as attitudes. Do you know the difference?

Our programs, values, beliefs and paradigms are always reflected in how we live. Always! Is a clearer understanding of your beliefs, of your role in life and of the unique contribution you can make to the world you live in important to you?

Would you like to find out how to discover your core values and how to live by them? Searching for the foundation of self can lead to dramatic change. This is what personal growth is really about. Contact ConnectingPointe to learn more.
